François Nel is an award-winning journalist, educator and textbook author with experience in the US, UK and South Africa. François is also a technology enthusiast who started teaching computer-assisted research and reporting in 1995, the year after the World Wide Web was widely introduced.
He has been involved in e-learning initiatives since 1999. Two years later he joined the Department of Journalism
at the University of Central Lancashire where he has spearheaded the development and implementation of blended-learning courses for professionals. He currently the director of the Journalism Leaders Programme
Francois has degrees from North Park University, Chicago, and Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC. He has studied journalism at Columbia College, Chicago, and financial and strategic management at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, South Africa.
His current doctoral research at City University, London, considers issues that arise in the space where journalism, leadership and technology intersect.
